NCC for Swedish rail project

27 May 2014

A SEK975 million (€107.9 million) rail contract has been awarded to NCC by the Swedish Transport Administration to expand the Svealandbanan railway line with double tracks on the Strängnäs to Härad section.

NCC’s role will include building 8.5km of double-track railway, 3km of rock tunnels and nine bridges.

Svante Hagman, head of NCC Construction Sweden, said, “Sustainability will be in focus throughout the project and we will comply with our green building concept. This means that we will create energy-efficient establishments in the form of eco-labelled electricity, energy-efficient structures, needs-based lighting, energy-efficient equipment, efficient transport and environmentally compatible management of waste products.”

NCC will start work in the summer and the entire expansion project is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2018.
