Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) – HCME – is launching two new medium excavators at Bauma, in the ZX85US-5 and ZX85USB-5.

Described as compact and with a short-tail swing radius, they are suitable for working on a wide range of job sites, particularly where space is limited. These include earthmoving and construction projects, especially in urban areas, as well as road construction, forestry and demolition applications.

HCME said the new ZX85US-5 and ZX85USB-5 had been developed by using feedback from owners and operators of its construction machinery around Europe. The new machines are said to incorporate a variety of features to meet the needs of customers in terms of sustainability, productivity, durability, versatility, comfort and safety, as well as easy maintenance.

HCME said it was committed to minimising the impact of its construction machinery on the environment, and the ZX85US-5 and ZX85USB-5 comply with Stage IIIA regulations. The auto shutdown and auto idle features aim to prevent fuel wastage and reduce noise levels, exhaust emissions and CO2.

The machines’ hydraulic system has been modified to minimise pressure loss, resulting in higher speeds for the front attachment in forward motion. Thanks to an additional counterweight, the slant angle when swinging is increased on the ZX85USB-5, and this model also has a boom swing mechanism that allows for easy and efficient excavation next to walls and rail guards, according to HCME.

Three new wheeled excavators are being launched by HCME at Bauma, too.

The ZX170W-5, ZX190W-5 and ZX220W-5 are described by HCME as high-quality, efficient machines that can work in challenging conditions. It said they were easy to operate, while the cab provided a safe, user-friendly work space for operators. HCME also said that the machines had easy maintenance features.

The wheeled loaders are expected to be particularly popular on the German market.
