Mediaco adds used Liebherrs

Leading French crane specialist Mediaco has added a pair of large used Liebherr cranes to its rental fleet.

The lattice boom cranes are an eight-year old 600 tonne capacity LR 1600/2 crawler crane and a nine-year old LG 1750 wheeled mobile. Prior to purchase Liebherr repaired, repainted and added new sign writing to both cranes. It also provided them with a warranty.

Mediaco ordered both cranes to be retrofitted with derrick ballast and VarioTray. The 750 tomnner had an additional winch and the ballast supports were modified to allow use of 12.5 tonne slabs and also the 10 tonne slabs used on other Liebherr lattice boom cranes already in the Mediaco fleet.

The LG 1750 was put straight to work on the Grand Paris infrastructure project, described as the largest construction site in Europe. The LR 1600/2 helped install a 140 tonne bridge in Blois, 200 km south-west of Paris.

The lead times are shorter and the investment is lower. Liebherr cranes are renowned for retaining their value. Purchasing used cranes direct from the manufacturer also gives us security. What is more, we enjoy excellent service from Liebherr in France.”

Bernd Rechtsteiner, used cranes sales manager at Liebherr in Ehingen, Germany, commented. “We have found that used crane customers who order a machine from us can obtain finance more easily as banks and leasing companies also appreciate the security that we can offer as the manufacturer. Furthermore, the investment is lower than for a new crane and the cranes are generally available more quickly.”
