Manitou Group acquires robotics specialist
13 May 2025
Manitou Group has announced the acquisition of the robotics division of Sitia, a French engineering company known for developing test benches used by industrial laboratories and technical centres.

The move is said to align with Manitou Group’s recently announced LIFT strategic roadmap, which identifies robotics as a key area of focus for the company’s future innovation. As part of the acquisition, a team of seven specialists, comprising engineers and doctoral-level researchers, will join Manitou’s research and development operations.
The team was previously involved in the development of the autonomous agricultural robot Trektor. The deal also includes the transfer of intellectual property associated with Sitia’s robotics division.
According to Manitou Group, the acquisition is intended to accelerate the development of new products and services, particularly in the agricultural and semi-industrial sectors.
The company plans to establish a dedicated “Manitou Group Robotics” division later this year to oversee its activities in this field.
Julien Waechter, vice president of R&D at Manitou Group, says, “Sitia has been a partner with whom we have collaborated for nearly a decade, and which has embarked on its transformation towards cutting-edge robotic activity. Through this acquisition, we shall enrich our capabilities with a team of recognised experts, benefit from proven technological building blocks, coupled with Manitou Group’s established know-how. Our aspiration is to thus fortify our leadership position to continue innovating and to advance further in the development of solutions, thereby meeting the evolving expectations of our customers.”
