Major Irish holiday village development

07 April 2015

Center Parcs holiday group has confirmed plans for a €200 million village development at Newcastle Wood, near Ballymahon, County Longford, Ireland.

An agreement has been signed with Coillte, the state forestry company, for use of the 152 ha site.

The centre will accommodate up to 2,500 guests in its 500 sustainably-designed lodges. As part of the proposals, the site will feature a spa, restaurants, cafés and water park facilities.

There will be public consultation on the scheme, along with a planning application to be prepared for the project.

Martin Dalby, CEO of Center Parcs, said the new site would be “of huge economic benefit” to the region. It is expected to open in 2019.
