Low emission road building equipment

The highlight on Wirtgen's stand will be the new WR 240i, a large soil stabiliser and milling machine. As with other models in the Wirtgen range and those of its sister companies, Hamm and Vögele, the 'i' of the product designation indicates a Stage IIIB-compliant engine. Other models on display meeting these emissions standards will include the W 100fi and W 60 i milling machines.

Other Improvements to the WR 240i include an ergonomic, fully glazed cab, which offers a direct view to the milling edge. The machine includes a computer-controlled metering system and three different rotor speeds.

Other machines on display will include representative models from Wirtgen's milling machine range, including the W 210, which features the company's Operator Comfort System (OCS). This comprises a hydraulically movable cab, which helps gets the operator to the best possible position to operate the machine.

Vögele

Centre of attention for Vögele, the Wirtgen group's asphalt paver specialist will be the new Super 2300-3i. Like other machines in the group's portfolio with the 'i' designation, this new dash-3 model is fitted with a low emission, Stage IIIB compliant engine, which Vögele says also delivers improved efficiency.

The super 2100-3i is the most powerful model in the new paver range, and innovations include a switchable transfer gearbox, which allows certain hydraulic pumps to be bypassed when not in use - saving fuel. Other savings are generated by, for example, the variable speed fan, which runs at a speed matched to the required cooling effort at any one time.

One feature that should prove particularly popular is the 'Auto Set' function. This allows the operator to prepare the machine for paving or transport with the flick of just one switch. Automated systems then take care of all the individual functions, such as folding up the hopper and deflectors, and raising the auger and screed ready for transport.

Another useful feature is 'Pave Dock', which is a shock absorber system in front of the hopper to take care of any impacts from the feeder truck without jolting the paver itself.

Also new from Vögele is the MT 3000-2i offset feeder unit. Equipped with a pivoting conveyor belt, this is designed to keep feeding asphalt to a paver working in confined areas where a truck would not be able to reach it. The unit can also be used for tasks like backfilling trenches or crash barriers, and it can deliver material at a rate of up to 1200 tonnes/hour.

Hamm

Like other companies within the Wirtgen Group, compaction specialist Hamm will be unveiling new Stage IIIB-engined machines, as indicated by the 'i' in their product designation. Machines on show at intermat will include the 20 tonne H 20i soil compactor, which also features an increased compaction force compared to its predecessor.

The company's tandem rollers, the HD+ series will also be on show, and these now have the unique ability that the two rollers can be used at different frequencies. The machines are fitted with the Hammtronic management system as standard and have won several design awards for their ergonomics and user friendliness.

Other technologies on display will include the HCQ compaction control system, which is a modular system available in different levels of sophistication. The highest spec version includes GPS positioning data, which adds a map to the automatically calculated compaction data for a comprehensive set of documentation.

Another important step that Hamm has taken is to ensure that its control and automation systems are common across all of its products. This means that an operator trained on one machine should be able to operate any roller from the Hamm portfolio.

Kleemann

Kleemann, part of the Wirtgen group will be showcasing new plants from its range of Mobirex Evo mobile impact crushers. Launched in the last few months, machines like the MR 110 and MR 130 are already in use around the world, with customers reporting high throughputs and low fuel consumption.

Also on display will be two plants from the company's Contractor Line, the Mobicat MC 100 R mobile jaw crusher and the Mobirex EVO MR 110 ZS mobile impact crusher.

The MC 100 R is capable of a 200 tonne/hour throughput, and features an infinitely variable gap setting.

The MR 110 ZS EVO meanwhile, will be shown with a full range of equipment, including a standalone double-deck grizzly typical of Kleemann, high-performance electromagnets and oversize material return conveyor.
