Katy, Texas-based LiuGong Construction Machinery North America, LLC is demonstrating the 856H-E Max, its newest battery-electric wheel loader for the North American market, in its Festival Lot booth at ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas. The demonstration is intended to show how the company’s battery-electric vehicles stack up against conventional machines.

The 46,297-lb. 856H-E Max has a standard bucket capacity of 4.58 cu. yds. and a rated load capacity of 12,786.8 lb. It can generate 36,419 lbf. of breakout force and has a standard dump clearance of 9 ft. 9 in.

The loader is powered by a 432-kWh large-capacity lithium-ion phosphate battery from battery manufacturer CATL. The battery enables up to 10 hours of operation for light applications and eight hours for heavy applications. An Intelligent Battery Management System enables fast charging in 90 minutes.

Other key features include load-sensing hydraulics, an EAT700 transmission with electro-proportional valve for fast, smooth shifting, and independent control of the dual-motor drive for maximum hydraulic lift. An electric control box improves transmission efficiency compared to conventional machines, LiuGong said, while the use of an IP67 rated wiring harness and waterproof integrated battery package reinforces machine reliability. To reduce operator fatigue, the Intelligent Auto Digging System automatically carries out repetitive digging cycles to reduce operator fatigue.

More than 2000 models of the 856H-E Max electric loader have been put to work globally in challenging jobsite conditions since October 2022.

Also featured at ConExpo are the new Hv series wheel loaders powered by EU Stage V-approved diesel engines. The 29,033-lb. 838Hv is equipped with a Cummins 4.5 L turbocharged, air-to-air intercooled engine rated 154 gross hp at 2200 rpm, while the 44,423-lb. 856 Hv has a Cummins 6.7 L straight turbocharged engine rated 225 gross hp at 2000 rpm. The 69,666-lb. 890Hv has a fuel-efficient Cummins powerplant rated 335 hp at 2100 rpm.

LiuGong is showing a total of 19 products in its display, including the new 36-ton class 936F and 95-ton class 995F excavators; 5- and 6-ton class 9051FZTS and 9057ZTS zero tailswing compact excavators; 15-ton class 915FCR compact radius excavator; 6612E roller; and Dressta TD-25M dozer. Also featured are the 838Hv, 856Hv and 890Hv wheel loaders, which meet Stage V emissions standards and include updated transmission and hydraulic systems.

Though the sale marks the first in the U.S., the 856H-E MAX already has more than 2000 electric wheel loaders operating around the world as of October 2022, with LiuGong expecting more growth.
