Liebherr’s first new generation batching plant goes into operation

Liebherr has launched its latest generation of concrete batching plants with the first plant now operational. The new Betomix and Mobilmix batching plant series can be fully put together from a modular system.
Liebherr says that the new plant requires up to 30% less energy than previous versions, while the necessary electricity supply can also be lower because power peaks can be avoided. The company adds that this is achieved by frequency converters for the drives on the mixer and feeder elevator.
a+b Asphalt- und Betonmischwerke, a material production and distribution company, was recently equipped with a Mobilmix 3.0 concrete batching plant from the new Liebherr system, which has gone into operation in Bad Waldsee in southern Germany.
The plant is said to deliver up to 130 m³ output per hour with the Liebherr DW 3.0 twin-shaft mixer. Up to 210 m³ of aggregates can be stored in a total of six chambers whilst four types of cement or binder totalling up to 400 tonnes can be stored in the cement section.
The new concept is based on a modular design, each module can be planned and manufactured independently, and then combined with other modules. The modules are almost completely wired and fully assembled at Liebherr before being tested. Once they pass the tests, the modules are delivered to the construction site as complete transport units.
The dimensions of the modules are optimised, with a maximum width of three metres. Liebherr says that this eliminates the need for special transportation for almost all types of plants, reducing transportation costs. The modules feature a folding concept and plug-in connections, which is said to allow for quick and efficient assembly and commissioning at the construction site.
The Germany-based company adds that its batching plant’s accessible areas are designed with ample space, making it easy to maintain and clean. There is also sufficient room to organise additional containers.
The latest generation of the mixer offers improved headroom within the entire inner area, compared to its predecessor. All stairs and steps are 1,000 mm wide as standard, providing easy access. The new high-pressure cleaner called “LiClean”, along with the “creep speed” cleaning mode, ensures optimal cleaning results with a high level of safety.
