Liebherr enters ADT market
20 April 2010
Liebherr has launched its first ever articulated dump truck (ADT) at Bauma. The 30 tonne capacity TA230 on display is the first model in a range that will cover the 30 to 50 tonne categories. The next model to be released will be a 40 tonne machine.
According to Liebherr, the TA230 has the dimensions of a 25 tonne machine, with a width for transport of 3 m. However, the company also claims it has the largest dump body in its class at 19.2 m3.
The 6 x 6 driveline features three rigid axles, oil-cooled wet brakes, automatic transmission and a torque converter, with power coming from a 10,5 litre 270 kW engine. The top forward speed is 57 km/h, while in reverse an electronic limiter keeps the maximum speed to 16 km/h.
The cab features large windows for all round visibility and a fully adjustable seat, while a touch-screen display provides operating data and a feed from the rear-view camera - a standard feature. Parameters displayed on the screen include temperature, engine speed, air conditioning settings, number of dumping operations and daily operating hours.
As one would expect from Liebherr, key components such as lift cylinders are manufactured in-house. These deliver a dump time of 10 seconds or less, with an equally fast return to the down position.
