Kompakt 500 launched at M&T Expo
10 June 2009
Ciber, Wirtgen Group's South American subsidiary, launched its Kompakt series of asphalt plants at Brazil's M&T Expo last week (2-6 June, Sao Paulo) with the new Kompakt 500, which has a capacity of 50 tonnes per hour.
Ciber's Research & Development department spent 15 months developing the Kompakt series - from design to testing - and the result is a lightweight, 2.6 m-wide plant that is easy to transport along the narrow, windy roads of South America, the Caribbean and Africa.
Aggregates can be loaded from either side, the tank can be positioned in a parallel or perpendicular position and the small footprint requires no special foundation.
The bins can operate by volumetric or dynamic metering and have two storage units each, making it possible to store four kinds of materials. Other features include a pleated bag filter, slower gas speeds, which reduce the number of augers needed, a new, angled mixer and a new more powerful drying system.
Easy and quick to assemble the Kompakt 500 plant at the show will also be on display in São Paulo's Museum of Modern Art until the June 28, having been nominated for two awards: Idea/Brazil, the national version of the US's International Design Excellence Award (Idea); and the Brazilian version of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) awards.
