Kier Living, part of UK-based Kier Group, has been awarded a £200 million (€231.4 million) residential development project in Hardingstone, Northamptonshire, UK.

Selected by Homes England to be their delivery partner, Kier Living will help to construct 750 new homes on a 48ha site.

The project will be delivered in three-phases, with 250 units built per phase, and it will include 180 affordable homes. The site will also have a wide range of community facilities including a new primary school, a medical centre and pharmacy, and a leisure centre, as well as office and retail space.

The scheme will help with the UK government’s ambition to deliver 300,000 new homes a year and address the need for housing in this particular region. A report from the National Housing Federation suggested that there was a shortfall of 25,000 homes built in East Midlands between 2012 and 2016.

John Anderson, executive director of Kier Living, said, “Sites like this underpin our strategic goals to build 4,000 new homes per annum by 2021.

“A project of this scale also gives us tremendous scope to provide strong opportunities for local companies across the supply chain, to provide local jobs, and importantly to offer training and employment programmes to help bring young people from across Northamptonshire into our industry.”

Work is scheduled to begin in April 2018.
