Italian concrete show to return
02 December 2016
The first edition of GIC – Italian Concrete Days closed on Saturday November 12, claiming more than120 exhibitors and around 3,000 visitors.
The organisers said that the fact that the exhibition, held in Piacenza, was dedicated to the concrete industry, along with the specialised nature of the visitors, had been appreciated.
GIC participants were able to attend workshops and conferences focusing on specialised themes including the latest news in the additives industry, concrete pavements and flooring for logistics, ports and airports, controlled demolition and consolidation technology of reinforced concrete structures in seismic areas.
There was also a gala dinner organised in the Hall of Tapestries of the Alberoni College in Piacenza, attended by more than 120 people, during which the ICTA –Italian Concrete Technology Awards – were presented.
A number of special Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented. They went to Dr Giorgio Squinzi of Mapei in the category of materials and additives producers, Benedetto Di Maria from DB System in the machinery and equipment manufacturer category, Professor Mario Collepardi from Enco for consulting/engineering firms, and Giuseppe Parenti of Paver in the precast concrete producer category.
Fabio Potestà, director of Mediapoint & Communications and organiser of GIC, said, “Given its location and size, the Piacenza exhibition centre is strategic for a niche event like GIC. I hope that some initially sceptical visitors of a very first edition of a new trade show format, given the results, can turn into exhibitors in the future.”
The next GIC – Italian Concrete Days will be held, again in Piacenza, from 8to 10 November, 2018.
