Industrial coatings company PPG to build $380m US manufacturing facility

Industrial coatings company PPG is to invest $380 million in the construction of a new aerospace coatings and sealants manufacturing facility in Shelby, North Carolina, USA.

The new 62-acre (25-hectare) facility will initially include manufacturing and warehousing units.

Construction is set to start in October 2025, with completion due for the first half of 2027.

PPG said that the plant, which will produce the full line of its aerospace coatings and sealants, will combine with nearby transport links that improve supply chain and shipping logistics.

“PPG’s investment in this new manufacturing facility demonstrates the significant demand growth for our world-class technologies and our continued commitment to serving our aerospace customers,” said Tom Knavish, PPG chairman and chief executive officer.
