Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe (HCME) has released new software that will allow equipment owners and dealers to carry out software updates to their Hitachi machines remotely.

The new ConSite Air tech gives users an option to update software and access diagnostics, without the need to visit the machine and at more convenient times.

HCME Manager Solution Linkage, Ryo Kurihara, said, “Until now, our dealers would have had to physically attend the machine to carry out these actions.

“ConSite Air saves both time and money by enabling this to be carried out remotely, making life easier for both our dealers and their customers, and ensuring optimum working efficiency of Hitachi construction equipment.”

Designed to work alongside ConSite remote monitoring system, which collects machine data and sends a monthly report on the machine’s performance to fleet owners, ConSite Air is the latest addition to the manufacturer’s range of digital fleet management tools.

While the technology is currently only available on selected Hitachi machines, it will be expanded for use with “a wider range of models at a later date”.

Consite Air was trialled earlier this year by HCME’s Norwegian dealer Nasta and by Kiesel, the company’s equipment dealer in Germany.

According to the manufacturer, Nasta and Kiesel said that using ConSite Air meant that they did not have to send mechanics out to update machines.

“They also commented on its user-friendliness, and that it makes it easy to monitor machine issues remotely,” said HCME.

Kurihara added, “This latest development is another example of how Hitachi continues to consider the challenges of customers in order to provide solutions that will improve safety, increase productivity and reduce life-cycle costs.”
