HCC wins Delhi Metro contract

Indian infrastructure company Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) Ltd, has been awarded an INR 300 crore (US$ 50 million) contract by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC).

The contract os fir the design and building of a 1.54 km twin tunnel on the Dwarka-Najafgarh metro corridor of phase III of Delhi Metro.

The contract also included construction of the Municipal Corporation underground station, which at 290 m long and 30 m wide, is one of the biggest stations on the network. The station will be built at a depth of 18 m.

HCC will use a shield tunnel boring machine to create the two tunnels. The construction work will be completed in 36 months.

The contract is the third for HCC on the phase III development of Delhi Metro since October 2012. The three contracts have a total value of INR 1539 crore (US$ 250 million).

“HCC has been undertaking challenging assignments in underground metro development and repeat orders from DMRC reflects our ability to execute complex assignments,” said Arun Karambeklar, president and director, HCC.
