Hamm unveils Tier 4 Interim compactor

24 March 2011

Wirtgen groups compaction subsidiary Hamm has unveiled what is thought to be the first soil compactor in the world to feature a Tier 4 Interim compliant engine.

A pre-production 20 tonne class H20i is on display at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2011, with full production of the 18, 20 and 25 tonne class models due to start in September.

The H20i features a 160 kW Deutz engine and offers a 2.14 m compaction width and a maximum centrifugal force of 331 kN.

Like other Hamm soil compactors, the machine features a comfortable and adjustable seat equipped with two joysticks.

The steering column is also adjustable and the doors on both sides are tiltable to allow easy ingress and exit for the operator.

A clear instrument panel makes it easy to see the machines operating parameters thanks to illuminated pictograms, while the Hammtronic supervises all engine and roller functions, in particular drive, vibration, oscillation and engine speed.
