Halcrow wins in Poland
29 January 2010
A Halcrow, BRL Ingénierie, Scott Wilson consortium has won the contract to improve the flow capacity of the River Odra through the city of Wroclaw in Poland as well as provide additional flood defences along the river. The contract is a key component of the € 500 million flood risk management programme for the city, Europe's largest such project.
The contract involves the design, procurement and construction supervision of the flood relief channel, and is expected to take six years to complete.
Regional director for Halcrow's European water team, Roland Grzybek said, "We indentified this project more than three years ago as one of our key prospects in the regions. Winning this project, worth € 8,2 million to Halcrow, will help us develop our water business in Poland and realise our long-term vision and strategy for both water resources and urban water clients."
As well as feasibility, design and construction supervision, the contract also calls for the Halcrow led consortium to supervise maintenance for 12 months following completion.
