Dutch contractor Bam Group has been granted planning approval for a € 150 million development in Cork, Ireland.

Bam Group's Irish subsidiary, Bam Contractors, and Heineken Ireland plan to develop a 6000 seat event centre on the site of the former Beamish and Crawford brewery in Cork city centre. The 18000 m2 development, known as The Brewery Quarter, would also include retail outlets, apartments, a viewing tower and two pedestrian bridges across the river Lee.

Provided there are no appeals or objections to the decision by Cork City Council to grant planning permission, a final contract will be drawn up for the project, which is aimed for completion by 2015.
