Generac launches ‘all-in-one’ lighting tower

Premium Content

Generac Mobile has developed an “all-in-one” mobile lighting tower offering diesel, battery, hybrid, mains power and solar options in a single machine.

Generac’s V20 PRO tower incorporates multiple power sources.

Its new PRO range – starting with the trailer mounted V20 PRO and more compact CUBE PRO – aims to give rental companies a tower that allows end users to choose their preferred power source: powered 100% from an integrated diesel engine; 100% from an integrated/rechargeable battery pack; an automatic hybrid system alternating battery working with diesel recharging; and a plug-in option with external power for simultaneous operation and battery charging.

The company said rental companies faced a problem in buying many different models for specific needs, with customers looking for quiet or zero emission operation, full power mode, or a hybrid option.

“Rental companies, if they wanted to follow this trend, would have to invest a lot of money and time in the purchase and management of very different lighting tower fleets”, said the company.

“Therefore, however, a large proportion of the fleet could remain in the yard, with lower utilisation, creating serious difficulties in the planning of purchases and a longer return of investment.”

Generac said the operator can choose the desired power source with a simple switch on the control panel.

The PRO towers also integrate technology that allows the charging the battery packs from a variety of external sources, including a solar panel kit, an external battery pack (providing up to 40 hours of operation), or an external power source like a generator or mains supply.

The Solar Panel Kit and Battery Pack, both manufactured by Generac Mobile, are available as options. A darkness sensor and digital timer are installed as standard, and the PRO towers have a dimmer to adjust the LED light power from 25% to 100%, helping users to extend running time.

The PRO technology is available now on Generac’s V20 and CUBE towers, and the company said it plans to offer PRO versions of its entire range by the end of 2021, starting with the Hydro Power Box that is a most commonly used in the events rental sector.
