Galliford Try to deliver €452 million UK housing scheme

15 September 2014

The Greater London Authority has confirmed Galliford Try as its preferred developer for the Uk’s Silvertown Way housing scheme at Canning Town, East London.

Consisting of 1,100 mixed tenure properties, the £360 million (€452 million) scheme will be delivered as a joint venture with Thames Valley Housing Association.

The project – which includes construction of 11 housing blocks south of the Royal Docks, will be the largest single scheme that the company has been involved with.

It has been designed with a strong element of affordable housing available for shared ownership and rental. There are also plans for a hotel, restaurant and commercial premises. The venture on the 5.9 hectare site follows Galliford’s recent award of €101 million Great Eastern Quays development in East London for 350 properties.

Galliford Try chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said, “These schemes are testament to the combined resources of the group and our proven expertise in regeneration and affordable housing projects.

"It underlines our continued investment in delivering much needed homes and working in long-term partnerships with our partners in the sector.”
