Hubbard Construction, the US subsidiary of Vinci’s road building arm, Eurovia, has won four road building contracts in Florida, us with a total value of US$ 200 million. The projects are part of the state’s US$ 10 billion Florida Transportation Plan, which was unveiled in January.
The largest contract is the US$ 92.5 million scheme to widen a 6.5 km stretch of State Road 528 in Orlando from Florida's Turnpike to I-4. It also includes widening of six bridges, comprehensive refurbishment of two bridges and construction of two new access bridges.
In a separate agreement, Hubbard will supply and place asphalt mix for the “I-4 Ultimate Improvement” project over the coming six years. More than 1 million tonnes of material will be used on the scheme in central Florida to widen a 24 km section between Orlando and Longwood to 10 lanes. The contract value is US$ 74 million.
Meanwhile, a project in the city of Orlando will see the company widen and upgrade a section of International Drive (I-Drive). The road serves a huge resort which is home to the State’s most-visited attractions, six of the world’s largest theme parks. The project will see the recycling of 16 km of lanes, construction of 8 km of additional lanes and development of pedestrian bridges. Landscaping, drainage, road sign and road marking works are also included in the US$ 21.5 million scheme.
Finally, Hubbard will reconstruct and widen a 2.4 km stretch of Florida State Road 21 between McMeekin and Jacksonville in Northern Florida in a US$ 15.8 million contract.
