Flatiron wins US$ 134 million transport projects

Hoctief's US subsidiary Flatiron has won a series of contracts totalling US$ 134 million for new highway and bridge construction in Utah, California and Colarado

The first contract for the Utah Department of Transportation, an US$ 80 million design-build project to widen State Route(SR) 92 south of Salt Lake City. Flatiron will manage the design-build joint venture and holds a 60% share of the contract.

Design will begin in May, followed by construction. The project is expected to be complete by spring 2011.

Flatiron is also constructing a new segment of SR 52 in Santee, California, northeast of San Diego. With a contract value of US$ 28 million, the new six-lane highway is the final section road linking Route 52 into Route 125 in the west and Route 67 in the east.

Smaller projects include a US$ 20 million contract to widen the Hazel Avenue Bridge in Sacramento, and a US$ 1.4 million bridge replacement in Elk Grove, California.

Flatiron has also won bids totalling US$ 4.3 million to repair and construct new bridges in Larimer and Douglas counties in Colorado, as well as new electrical contracts through its subsidiary Terno Electrical Contractors.
