French contractor Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Construction, has been awarded a €140 million construction contract to build the Lacina shopping centre in Poznan, Poland.
Working with Centrum Lacina, an Apsys subsidiary, the firm said it would be responsible for the construction of the €290 million shopping centre, billed as one of the largest in Europe.
When complete, the Lacina shopping centre will offer 100,000m2 of gross leasable area, with 300 shops and 3,300 parking spaces.
The centre has been designed by architect firm RTKL with the aim of achieving Breeam (very good) certification.
The contractor said the work would be carried out by its subsidiary, Eiffage Polska Budownictwo, over a period of 26 months, including 15 months for building the shell.
The company said it would also create the square in front of the main entry, including fountains and lighting effects. It said twelve cranes would be needed to build this edifice of stone-faced walls and glass facades.
Work is scheduled to start in the spring of 2014 for delivery in 2016.
