Deere and UAW agree pay deal

06 October 2015

Deere & Company and the United Auto Workers Union (UAW) have agreed a new six-year master Labour agreement affecting some 10,000 staff in the US.

The agreement applies to manufacturing employees 12 Deere factories in the central states of the US. The facilities are in Ankeny, Dubuque, Ottumwa and Waterloo, Iowa; East Moline, Moline and Milan, Illinois; and Coffeyville, Kansas.

The deal was struck on October 1, following the expiration of the previous pay agreement on 30 September. It was subsequently ratified by UAW members.

A joint statement from UAW president Dennis Williams and UAW vice president Norwood Jewell said, “The new agreement provides many improvements for UAW members which include compensation and working conditions for nearly 10,000 members while giving Deere & Company the necessary tools to grow its business.”
