05 April 2016
Turner Construction has been awarded a US$ 106 million contract for the design and build of a new academic building for Cyber Security Studies at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis.
The work comprises a multi-story academic mission facility, which includes classrooms, teaching and research laboratories, lecture halls, offices, an observatory, loading dock, and research and testing tank in support of the engineering and weapons labs.
Construction will begin in October 2016, and is expected to be completed by September 2019.
Ted Carter, Naval Academy vice academic, said, “This is a significant step in the process of streamlining our cyber education capabilities here at the Naval Academy with the needs of the fleet and Department of Defence.
“This will be a state-of-the-art facility where our very best and brightest will get cutting edge training and education in the cyber field. I believe the building serves as yet another attraction the Naval Academy has to offer to future Midshipmen.”
