The agreement is part of a project to build a second track on the major transportation artery, close to the country’s Adriatic coast.

Local company Slovenske Zeleznice-Zeleznisko gradbeno podjeno is leading the consortium on the project, which includes Kolektor IGIN, GH Holding and YM Construction.

The construction team will deliver track and track-related equipment and acquire rolling stock for the project.

It will also install telecommunications and security systems, as well as deploying hardware, the electrical infrastructure and the power supply.

The work, which falls under Lot 3 of the Divaca-Koper project, is set to be completed by December 31, 2025.

The scope of the contract also cover the ongoing maintenance of the installed devices and the safe operation of the line, including rescue operations in case of accidents.

Regarding the wider project, the Slovenian government recently revised its investment estimate for the remaining works from €940 million to €1.03 billion.
