Bauer bulgaria eood has completed work on a new “multifunctional complex” in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia on the site of the former Proshek Brewery. The cramped site hampered on-site logistics and material deliveries.

Designed to echo the brewery, while serving as an up-to-date cultural complex, the new San Stefano complex comprises four levels of underground parking.

This meant excavating to a maximum depth of 18,5 m, the deepest excavation yet undertaken in the capital according to the company.

Using Bauer's BG 36 and BG 28 rigs, Bauer Bulgaria EOOD constructed the structure's piled wall of 880 mm diameter piles, to which EOOD attached a capping beam. This was followed by the installation of 835 temporary multi-strand anchors to a maximum depth of 20 m.
