Company wins approval for 42-MW solar project in Sweden

Sweden-based renewable energy developer OX2 AB has received approval to begin construction of a 42-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Halland County, located on the western coast of Sweden.

The solar farm, set to be built in Frollinge within the Halmstad municipality, is expected to generate approximately 43 GWh of electricity annually. OX2 plans to enhance the site’s capabilities by adding a battery energy storage system (BESS) to increase flexibility.

The next steps for the project include securing a grid connection and exploring options for installing the battery. Additionally, OX2 will investigate the potential for using the site of the PV park for agricultural activities.

“With the necessary permits and grid connection in place, the park can be built in between 6 and 12 months,” says Elin Lund, responsible for OX2’s solar power operations in Sweden.
