Chenggong unveils LNG wheeled loader
29 November 2012
Chinese construction equipment manufacturer Sichuan Chengdu Chenggong Construction Machinery (Chenggong) used the Bauma China show to unveil a new wheeled loader – the ZL50E-3 Super, which runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG).
With a 2.7 m3 to 4.3 m3 bucket capacity, this 17 tonne machine has a rated power output of 162 kW. LNG fuel has a high flash point and narrow explosive limit range. It is stored in an on-board gas bottle that the company said fulfils standard safety requirements.
Chenggong claims the LNG system is a more eco-friendly option than diesel, and is also more economical.
Tom Zeng, the manufacturer’s head of overseas marketing, said Bauma China was the machine’s first showcase on the market. He said ChengGong was working hard to improve the quality of its equipment and service offering.
“Competition in the market has changed, and while we have over 300 dealer outlets in China, we are increasingly targeting overseas markets, too,” Mr Zeng said. “This includes Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, and we are also interested in opportunities in Europe and the US.
“It used to be that if you could produce a machine, you could sell the machine, but now relationship management is more and more important. We are focussing on how to improve this and our service network – we have also introduced a new maintenance vehicle, for instance, which is a one-stop service point for customers.”
