CETA puts on show

18 April 2011

Two demonstration days are planned for the UK by a new alliance which has been formed to promote the benefit and implementation of technology for mobile equipment in construction and associated industries.

CETA (the Construction Equipment Technology Alliance) was formed last November by Halomec, MOBA Mobile Automation, GKD Technik and OnGrade.

Uttoxeter Race Course in Staffordshire, in England's West Midlands, will be the venue for CETA's event, which will be held on 15 and 16 June between from 9am until 5pm. The emphasis will be on live demonstrations of a range of solutions and systems offered by the member companies.

Alastair Brown, managing director of MOBA, said, "Visitors to the CETA demonstration days will be able to experience a whole variety of working technologies as well as discuss their individual applications and requirements with CETA members."

CETA was said to have been initially formed out of the frustration caused by the demise of SED - the UK show that was cancelled last year after more than 40 years - and the difficulties for smaller companies with more limited product ranges and resources when organising their own events.

Given that the four founding companies were already co-operating in an informal manner, they said it made sense to pool resources and organise something together.

Julian Athawes, managing director of Halomec, said, "Many companies already benefit from using a variety of technologies to enhance the safety and productivity of mobile plant operations, CETA is all about promoting the use of such enabling technology and educating users to the benefits that deploying these solutions can bring.

"It will also allow customers and potential customers to work with a core group of companies that share the same values in order to satisfy their technology needs," he added.
