Cat launches 6-tonne mini excavator
09 December 2019
Caterpillar has entered the 6 t mini excavator class with the launch of its 306 CR Next Gen mini hydraulic excavator.
The 306 CR is equipped with a Stage V emissions compliant Cat C2.4 Turbo diesel engine and automatic engine idle and shutdown features for reduced fuel consumption.
Capable of lifting up to 3.5 t at a 3 m (10 ft) radius, the machine has a compact tail swing and maximum operating weight of 7.2 t. The model, which has a standard digging depth of 3.7 m (12 ft), comes with the manufacturer’s Stick Steer and a new LCD monitor for personal operating preferences as standard.
According to the manufacturer, the model’s enhanced uphill sing torque and cycle times offer increased productivity and efficiency.
Featuring a pressurised cab with lower in-cab operating noise levels, the cab has a roll over and tip over protective structure, as well as a top guard to promote operator safety.
The machine also has a similar controls layout to Cat’s other mini excavators to simplify operator training.
Made from components common to its mini excavator range, Cat said the model benefited from lower repair costs, decreased service time and a reduced repair parts inventory.
Optional extras include a long stick option, which enables the machine to reach a digging depth of up to 4.1 m (13 ft 6 in), and a canopy alternative to the pressurized cab will be available in 2020.
