Burj Dubai tops-out

17 March 2008

Construction of structural concrete on the Burj Dubai, the world's tallest building, was completed in November. The Dubai, UAE skyscraper topped-out at 601 m, but a spire is expected to be added to the structure to take it to a greater, undisclosed height around 800 m.

The structural core was completed by the Samsung-Besix contracting joint venture inside the original timetable. Construction of the tower required more than 430000 m2 of Doka formwork, and the most powerful concrete pumps ever built, which were supplied by Putzmeister.
