Boels Rental has acquired Eekels Pompen, a rental business in the Netherlands specialising in pumps and related products and services.

The move will see Eekels Pompen added to Boels’ specialty rental business.

Diesel-powered, dry self-priming pumps from Eekels Pompen are used in civil, road and hydraulic engineering, and government projects.

Eekels Pompen employs 60 people and has three branches in the Netherlands, servicing the public sector, industry, civil engineering and marine and offshore sectors.

Its range includes chemical transfer pumps, ATEX pumps, submersible pumps, dry self-priming electric or diesel pumps, high pressure pumps and dewatering pumps.

It also offers pipes, hoses, accessories and generators.

Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Boels Rental, which also owns Finnish rental company Cramo, established its specialty rental business 10 years ago.

This now encompasses Power & HVAC, Industrial, Traffic Control and Site Accommodation divisions.

Pierre Boels, CEO and owner of Boels Rental said; “Many countries where Boels and Cramo operate offer excellent opportunities to expand or introduce our pump specialism.

“This is in line with the needs of our customers, who want a broad range, bespoke service and the right expertise.”

He said the acquisition of Eekels Pompen “offers both parties opportunities for further expansion. What’s more, the expertise in water management in the Netherlands is unrivalled. And innovative water management calls for specialist pumps.

“With over a quarter of our country sitting below sea level, it’s safe to say that this specialist knowledge is right here in the Netherlands.”

Operating since 1914, Eekels Pompen was previously part of the holdings owned by the Reigwein family - which also owns finance and investment business Reco Group - and had taken over the pump business in 2015 to help it realise sustainable growth.

“In order to expand, the ambitions of Eekels are best secured with an international group like Boels Rental,” Rob and Robin Reigwein said.
