01 April 2015

Bilfinger has identified potential improper payments of less than € 1 million (US$ 1.1 million) in its Brazilian operations following an internal investigation.

The announcement came following news that a contract worth € 6 million (US$ 6.5 million) for security monitors in several Brazilian municipalities was being looked into.

The company says it has informed Controladoria Geral da Uniao (CGU) – the Brazilian Office of the Inspector General , the government authority responsible for transparency and anti-corruption. It added that it would provide CGU with the findings of its internal investigation and co-operate with the authority

According to Bilfinger, its revenues in Brazil last year were just € 30 million (US$ 33 million) out of its € 7.7 billion (US$ 8.5 billion) total global sales.
