Besix Midmac JV wins US$ 750 Doha airport contract

02 July 2010

A 50:50 joint venture between Six Construct Qatar, a subsidiary of Belgium's Besix, and Midmac Contracting Co has won the US$ 750 million contract to build Phase III of the New Doha International Airport (NDIA) Passenger Terminal Complex.

The joint venture will be responsible for all structural, mechanical and electrical work on the scheme as well as design co-ordination for the airport lounge and shopping area. The project is scheduled for completion in the final quarter of 2012.

Bexix and Midmac have worked together before. One of the highest profile current projects is construction of the Doha Convention Center and Tower, a scheme awarded in early 2009. Besix is 50% owned by Egypt-based Orascom construction industries.
