These new capabilities allow infrastructure professionals to measure carbon reduction opportunities in their projects easily.

The latest enhancements in iTwin Experience enable infrastructure professionals to automate the generation of embodied carbon calculation reports and impact analyses.

Bentley says that by leveraging iTwin Experience, users can explore multiple design choices more efficiently and eliminate the need for manual data exports and normalisation.

The company says that the iTwin Experience offers bi-directional integration with EC3, enabling users to visualize carbon assessments within a digital twin without the requirement of coding. iTwin Experience exports a data model to EC3, a free tool that users can access separately. EC3 performs the embodied carbon calculations and returns results that iTwin Experience can seamlessly read and display.

The newly available carbon calculation capabilities in iTwin Experience benefit organisations seeking to incorporate carbon assessment workflows into their infrastructure projects without the need to develop proprietary iTwin-powered applications.

These capabilities also facilitate the integration of carbon assessment workflows with other Bentley products and solutions used for designing and managing infrastructure projects.

The carbon assessment features are currently in the Preview stage and will be initially accessible to a limited number of partners and early adopters.

Kaustubh Page, Director of Product Management with Bentley Systems, said, “With these new capabilities built into iTwin Experience, it is feasible to transform what is typically a six-month process into a six-minute workflow. Our goal is for iTwin Experience users to spend their valuable time on designing, optimizing, and making better decisions, faster – not exporting, aggregating, and validating data.”
