A consortium led by Balfour Beatty has won the US$ 900 million pre-construction and construction services contract, which forms part of the seven-year redevelopment of Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport in Texas, US.

The consortium, known as BARC comprises Balfour Beatty, Texas-based construction manager Azteca Enterprises, real estate and construction company H.J. Russell & Company, and commercial contractor Carcon Industries.

The contract covers the construction management for renovation of the airport's A and C terminals, along with the construction of a rail station to connect to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) network. Specifics of the project are expected to include replacing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and baggage handling systems as well as updating roads and parking areas.

The terminals were opened in 1974, and the DFW redevelopment plan is designed to improve their appearance as well as improve efficiency and the speed of passenger processing.
