AtkinsRéalis the latest construction company to sponsor an F1 team

Canada-based construction and engineering consultancy AtkinsRéalis has become the latest company from the construction industry to sponsor a Formula One racing team.

AtkinsRéalis said it would partner with the BWT Alpine Formula One Team, led by Flavio Briatore. The team’s drivers include Frenchman Pierre Gasly and Argentinian Franco Colapinto.

AtkinsRéalis said that it would draw on its experience in key markets such as nuclear energy, aerospace, defence, and complex high-performance engineering and design for the partnership.

Among the objectives the team and the company are working on is the development of an engineering academy.

AtkinsRéalis is the latest in a growing number of companies with a link to the construction sector to form a partnership with F1 teams.

Japanese construction equipment manufacturer Komatsu is the principal partner of Williams Racing and also serves as its STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), and Early Careers Partner.

Meanwhile, UK-based construction equipment manufacturer JCB is global partner of the Aston Martin F1 team.
