The 10-year-deal, worth $81.3 million, includes a range of remediation and management activities at 60 sites throughout the base.

The company said it would use a range of digital tools to enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting to optimise its approach to remediation.

Frank Sweet, chief executive of Aecom’s global environment business, said, “We are honoured to expand our long-standing relationship with the Department of Defense and lead this critical work at Vandenberg Space Force Base.

“Through innovative, sustainable remediation solutions, we’re helping to restore natural systems and deliver impactful environmental outcomes that align with our clients’ long-term goals.”

Established in 1941, Vandenberg Space Force Base is a space launch base that also conducts missile testing. It hosts space launches for civil and commercial space entities, such as NASA and Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
