Acciona secures €120m EIB loan to advance R&D
08 October 2025
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a €120 million loan agreement with Acciona to support investment in research, development and innovation.

The loan, which represents the first of a total €150 million approved by the EIB, will also support its digitalisation strategy aimed at improving the sustainability and efficiency of infrastructure projects, Acciona said.
According to the EIB, the financing will help Spanish infrastructure firm Acciona develop new materials, processes and technologies across its key business areas, including infrastructure, renewable energy and water treatment.
Funds will be directed towards projects in business process optimisation, automation, decarbonisation, and digital transformation, including applications of robotics, the Internet of Things, data analytics and artificial intelligence.
The investment aligns with the EIB Group’s 2024–2027 Strategic Roadmap, which identifies digitalisation, technological innovation, climate action and environmental sustainability among its core priorities.
It also builds on a series of previous collaborations between the EIB and Acciona, including a €110 million loan signed in 2022 to advance the company’s R&D and digitalisation programmes.
