Abu Dhabi port win

08 July 2009

Al Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has won an AED 1.4 billion (US$ 380 million) contract on Abu Dhabi, Dubai's Khalifa Port Infrastructure Zone (KPIZ). The client is the Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC)

The scheme involves the construction of on-shore port facilities, including 47 buildings. The largest will be the central facilities building, which will be more than 300 m long and five storeys high. The contract also includes on-shore infrastructure including roads, bridges, water and sewage installations and landscaping work.

HLG managing director David Savage said, "We are delighted to have secured this important project for a quality client like ADPX. Abu Dhabi continues to offer strong new work prospects, particularly in large-scale infrastructure, and it is likely to be our most important market for the foreseeable future."

Work is already underway, with completion due by September 2011.
