€330 million Slovak road project awarded
10 July 2013
A consortium consisting of Doprastav, Strabag, Vahostav-SK and Metrostavwas has been awarded a €330 million contract to build a 12km stretch of motorway in Slovakia, according to research company PMR.
Awarded by the Slovak National Motorway Company (NDS), the contract is for the Svrcinovec-Skalite section of the D3 motorway. According to the authority, the consortium was selected because it submitted the lowest bid in the tender - approximately 90% of the construction cost estimated by the NDS.
Construction work is expected to last about three years and is being funded by the EU and the Slovak government.
The D3 motorway has strategic importance for transport links in the region, and those between Slovakia and Poland in particular. It is also part of a motorway corridor linking the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean Sea.
