XCMG Machinery has developed what it claims is the world’s first 65-tonne reach stacker, designed specifically for handling heavy energy storage containers.

The XCS65K has been engineered to address the growing scale of energy storage units, which can now weigh up to 60 tonnes and often need to be stacked up to three layers high. These requirements are pushing the limits of traditional container-handling equipment.

With a lifting capacity of 65 tonnes and the ability to stack up to five layers, the XCS65K is intended for high-intensity, high-density operations. According to XCMG, it features include millimetre-level control, AI-driven anti-tip technology, 360° panoramic imaging and intelligent braking systems to improve safety in complex environments.

The model received Chinese certification in April 2024. XCMG said customers have already reported significant improvements in logistics efficiency and delivery times since adopting the machine.
