International company Altrad Group has acquired UK company Actavo Hire and Sales from the Actavo Group for an undisclosed sum, extending its product offering and gaining entry to the Ireland market.

The move, announced 5 August, will see Actavo Hire and Sales divested from its parent company engineering and construction specialist Actavo.

Actavo Hire and Sales, which is based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, operates an online business along with 26 branches in the UK and four in Ireland.

It services sectors including construction, facility management, house building and tool hire, throughout the UK.

The company offers specialised scaffolding and building equipment for rent and sale. Its products include scaffolding, light access, shoring, temporary roofing and fencing.

It also offers specialty products such as ground support systems including trenching equipment, trench boxes, trench sheets, light and heavy duty hydraulic bracing, propping and other groundwork-related products.

Formwork and falsework are another specialism for Actavo Hire and Sales, and the company is a partner for Ulma Formwork and Layher Scaffolding.

Ran Oren, Altrad Group Co-CEO, said, “This acquisition sees our first venture into Ireland as well as extending our product offering and service in the UK.

“I am pleased to welcome Actavo Hire & Sales into the Altrad Group and we look forward to the next chapter building on the previous success of the company as part of the Altrad Group.”

Founded in 1985, France-headquartered Altrad Group has expanded through strategic acquisitions - two examples in the UK include access company Generation, acquired in 2012, and scaffolding business Trad, in 2012 - to provide industrial services and scaffolding solutions internationally.

It employs around 42,000 people worldwide and owns international brands including industrial services company Hertel and engineering and technical services company Prezioso Linjebygg.
