Brazil energy contracts for Vinci subsidiary
26 October 2023

A subsidiary of French contracting giant Vinci, Cobra IS, has been awarded contracts for the construction of three lots of high voltage transmission lines in Brazil that total almost 1,950km in length.
Cobra IS – through its Brazilian subsidiaries – was awarded three lots at an auction organised by the National Electricity Agency (ANEEL) of Brazil for around 6,000 km of new electrical transmission lines, divided into nine lots.
The thee lots won by Cobra IS include two EPC contracts worth around €570 million (US$600 million) and a PPP contract with an investment of around €150 million (US$158 million).
Vinci says that the projects will strengthen the transmission of carbon-free energy from future production plants (photovoltaic farms and onshore wind farms, located in eastern Brazil) and boost the capacity of the national electricity grid.
Cobra IS has built more than 32,000 km of power lines in Brazil over the past twenty years.
