Work to start on US$ 150 million Atlantic Village

Construction of Phase 1 of the US$ 150 million Atlantic Village Hotel & Marina in Florida, US complex is expected to start next week following approval of building permits for the development after six years in planning.
The 1 million ft2 (93000 m2) development will include a 12-story, 130000 ft2 (12100 m2) Class A office tower and incorporates an existing 80-boat marina has been entirely rebuilt in anticipation of the new development.
The 10 acre ( ha) site also includes an Island Pavilion in the middle of the Marina.
Designed by architect Sieger Suarez Architectural Partnership, the Atlantic Village complex Marina was the subject of a complex approval process, due to its location next to Fort Lauderdale International Airport's runway 9R and adjacent 80-boat marina.
The development needed 17 different Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDoT) permits and aeronautical and environmental studies before the construction permits were granted.
