Wacker Neuson is launching a new wheeled excavator for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, moving up into the 13 to 15 tonne class, beyond its existing EW65 and EW100 models.

The German OEM says the new the EW135 machine is designed for modern rental fleets and professional users with “high lifting capacities, digitalisation and the professional use of modern attachments”.

It has a permanently installed adjustable boom without a swing bracket, which it says reduces power losses, increases stability and allows higher lifting capacities; “For rental companies, this results in a broad range of applications – from urban infrastructure projects and conventional civil engineering to applications requiring high lifting capacities and stability, such as lifting operations.”

Attachment integration is enabled through the use of a MiC 4.0 interface, supporting the use of tiltrotators and other hydraulic tools. It is also approved for use with pallet forks.

Electrohydraulic pilot controls

An electrohydraulic pilot control system controls movements, and the system allows the user to store operator and attachment profiles, enabling quick switching between different operators, a “particular advantage” for rental, said the OEM.

To keep maintenance costs down, Wacker Neuson has designed in accessible maintenance points and digital diagnostic capabilities.

Wacker Neuson says the EW135 “combines the performance of a machine designed for demanding applications with the flexibility of a modern wheeled excavator.

“For rental companies in particular, this combination opens up new possibilities: a single machine can handle a wide range of applications, simplify operator changes and integrate intelligent attachments while meeting increasing demands for safety, productivity and digitalisation.”
