New FIEC president to succeed Philip Crampton

Elected following the FIEC General Assembly meeting held in Brussels, Belgium, earlier this month, Petrucco will be head of the newly elected FIEC steering committee over the 2024-2026 term.

He manages Italian foundations and micro-tunnel construction specialist contractor ICOP alongside his brother Vittorio, having started working at the family firm in 1988.

He is also vice president of the Italian association of private construction contractors, Associazione Nazionale Construttori Edili (ANCE) and has been FIEC’s vice president in charge of sustainability since 2019.

He replaces Crampton, whose term of office has come to its statutory end.

Piero Petrucco said, “I am pleased to take up this very important role at FIEC, a federation that brings together 32 members from 27 European countries, with more than 3 million companies and 12 million workers, in a sector that represents 10% of EU GDP. I accept this responsibility in a crucial phase for Europe, on the eve of the European Elections and with the various challenges to be faced, among which the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) as part of NextGenerationEU and the EU flagship of the Green Deal.

“The successful implementation of EU and global policies in all European countries is closely linked to the construction sector. Just an example: the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. On this point, in particular, we will need to have regular discussions with the European institutions to evaluate the operational and financial impacts of the Directive on businesses and families. Towards the industry, the companies and people we represent, we have this responsibility to have our voice heard.”
