Acciona reported first half sales of € 3 billion, up +2,8% on the € 2,9 billion recorded for the corresponding period last year. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) jumped +38,5% to € 528 million, up from € 382 million 12 months ago.

A statement said that the improvement in the results was largely due to the growth of Acciona Energy, which recorded an increase in sales of +42%, up to € 741 million from € 522 million last year. EBITDA leapt +60% to € 395 million, up from € 247 million 12 months ago.

"The 2078 MW acquired from Endesa, the incorporation of 462 MW of organic growth during the last year, and the higher load factors in Spain contributed to the growth," said a spokesperson.

"All of this has lead to an increase of +73% in total production, which has compensated for the -12,8% fall in average price of wind energy in Spain in the first half as a result of the -27,8% fall in the overall pool price of energy."

Acciona Infrastructures reported sales of € 1,5 billion, down -10% on the € 1,7 billion recorded 12 months ago, which the spokesperson attributed to a decline in activity in the domestic construction business.

A statement said that an improvement in the division's concessions business compensated for the deterioration in the national construction business.

Order backlog for the construction division as of 30 June this year stood at € 6,8 billion, down -4% on the € 7,1 billion recorded 12 months ago.
