Construction Briefing showcases nine images of noteworthy construction sites and projects around the world from September 2026
Doka is supplying formwork and engineering support for a major viaduct on Poland’s S19 Babica-Jawornik expressway section. The section forms part of Via Carpathia, the transnational route linking the Baltic region with south-eastern Europe. Work on the hilly section includes Flyover ES-26, an eight-span viaduct with tall piers, long spans and limited space for assembly. Doka’s scope covers both the construction of the piers and the balanced cantilever erection of the superstructure. (Image courtesy of Doka)
Hungarian construction company V-HID has installed the first of two spans that will make up the new Közvágóhíd railway bridge in Budapest, Hungary. Located near Budapest Park and sitting above a street called Soroksári út that serves as a main artery into Budapest, it was not possible to close the road for the bridge’s installation. Instead, bridge sections were fabricated close by and moved into place using specialist equipment and lift engineering expertise from Mammoet over a single weekend (Image courtesy of Mammoet)
Instead of using large crawler or mobile cranes, a heavy-lift luffing tower crane from Marr Contracting has installed a huge modular chimney stack on a major new project in London. Marr’s cranes have been working on construction of the North London Heat and Power Project (NLHPP). Over a two-month period, one of the M2480D cranes lifted multiple stack sections that formed a flue gas stack in excess of 100 metres high and weighing up to 60-tonnes into place.
